Agapanthus Blue Lily of the Nile is your quintessential agapanthus. Tall, graceful umbels of brilliant blue trumpet shaped blooms sit atop bright green, thick, strappy foliage. Flower stems have a hint of blue too.

Agapanthus Blue Lily of the Nile is a statuesque plant in both height and spread and can create a huge clump giving it real presence in the garden. 120cm flowering height and can get to the same spread.

All varieties can be grown either in your beds and borders or in a container or pot although some varieties can get quite large. It has been known for them to flower much more profusely if they are pot bound and their roots are restricted. Grow all agapanthus in well-drained soil in full sun. Avoid planting in shade as this can dramatically reduce flowering.

Water well in the first season to ensure they establish properly. If they are in a pot, make sure to water them during the Summer to avoid them drying out completely. Agapanthus varieties can be evergreen, semi-evergreen or deciduous.

Feed them with a high potash feed during flowering to encourage more flowers and slow feeding down once all blooms have finished. Ensure that during the winter they are not sitting in water as this can rot the tuber.
