The roots of Capital Gardens, an independent business, go back to 1981 when a landscape business was started in Battersea. This has now grown into London’s leading independent gardening company with six garden centres, a website along with a garden maintenance business.

Part-Time Chef

Location: Sherfield-on-Loddon Garden Centre & Café
Nr Basingstoke, RG27 0HL

24 hours per week

The Part-Time Chef supports the day-to-day running of the café kitchen, working closely with the Head Chef to deliver consistently high food standards. The role involves preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes to a high standard in line with menu specifications, while ensuring all food is produced and served in accordance with health and safety regulations. The Chef will maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation, monitor stock levels, support ordering when required, and follow portion-control procedures to minimise waste.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the day-to-day running of the kitchen, working closely with the Head Chef

  • Prepare, cook, and present dishes to a consistently high standard

  • Maintain excellent cleanliness, organisation, and food hygiene standards

  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering, portion control, and waste reduction

  • Ensure all food is prepared and served in line with health and safety regulations

  • Work in a busy café, liaising with the front of house team to provide high-quality customer service

General Assistant

Location: Neal's Nurseries Garden Centre
Heathfield Road, Wandsworth, SW18 3HR

We are seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join our team as part of the till staff. The ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service whilst ensuring that the Garden Centre stock and customer areas are maintained to the highest standards. This role requires excellent organisational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with team members and customers.

This position is for 35 Hours/PW.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the tills/till areas are always manned and ready for customers to be served.
  • Working with the Garden Centre team to ensure all areas of the Garden Centre are well presented and well stocked.
  • Being available for customer needs.
  • Making management aware of any customer/stock issues.
  • Work with the Garden Centre team on stock management.
  • Uphold the brand image and message of Capital Gardens as the natural place for gardening.

Requirements

Whilst this role has no specific requirements in terms of qualifications, experience in a retail environment, garden centre, and/or horticulture is favourable but not essential!

We are looking for individuals with a real team ethic and a willingness to interact with customers.
