Radish Scarlet Globe Thompson & Morgan

£1.99

The ‘Scarlet Globe’ Radish is an extremely popular and easy to grow radish variety that produces bright red and evenly shaped roots with pure white and crisp, moist flesh with a mild, peppery flavour. It is tolerant of warm weather and only takes 22 days until harvest.

The seeds will germinate between 14 -30C which makes them a long crop to grow, suitable for sowing and harvesting throughout the spring and summer. They can be grown as a ‘catch crop’ between slower growing vegetables.

Radishes are fast maturing and easy to grow, as long as there is sun and moist, fertile and well-drained soil even in the smallest garden plot.

Well suited to containers, sow in loam based compost and keep well watered in dry conditions and they will grow like normal.

The radish greens can be used in a variety of dishes, and can be added to blended drinks and salads. They are incredibly versatile!

Prepare you site beforehand, and your radishes will grow if adequate moisture is maintained.

Sow indoors from late winter or directly outdoors from late spring to early autumn. Make a succession of plantings in short rows every 10 to 14 days in spaces between slow-maturing vegetables. Sow thinly 1.5cm apart and keep moist. Thin out at necessary. Proper thinning will focus the harvest. Slower development will make your radishes hot in flavour and woody in texture. Repeat your sowings every two or three weeks to ensure a continuous supply.

Your radishes will be ready to harvest in only 21 days after sowing for a young crop. Radishes will only remain edible for a short time before becoming pity and hot.

Harvest Time: April,May,June,July,August,September,October

Products stocked will vary at each centre, please check availability before you visit to avoid disappointment.
