    The ‘Swift’ potato variety is among one of the fastest maturing of the first early potatoes- producing a good crop in as little as seven weeks from planting!

    They are a high yielding variety that is round-oval shaped with creamy white flesh and shallow eyes. It has a short bushy habit which makes it perfect for containers or patio bags and for a garden with limited space.

    An all rounder in the kitchen, they have been bred for the earliest use in North of Scotland- which means you should be assured that they are a very hardy variety!

    Brilliant disease resistance to blackleg, common scab, powdery scab and half eelworm resistance.

    Main Crop

    The early main-crop ‘Maris Piper’ potato has been grown since the 60s; the purple flowered main-crop is one of the most popular potato varieties in the UK.

    With golden skin and creamy white flesh and a fluffy texture, it is an all rounder and very versatile. Perfect for chipping, roasting and mashing.

    These wonderfully flavoured potatoes produce high yields that rarely lose their colour when cooking and have great storage capabilities. They are also resistant to eelworm.

    ‘Chit’ your seeds before you plant your potato seeds in March. ‘Chit’ your potato seeds by setting them in a cool and bright position to allow them to sprout- this should take 3-4 weeks.

    When planting choose a location with full sun and moist but well drained soil.

  • WILJA

    Second Early

    The ‘Wilja’ potatoes are an excellent choice not only for their versatility but also for their great taste. They have a wonderfully earthy taste that is a perfect all-rounder for you culinary needs especially when boiled.

    The yield is not high but it is acceptable and this unusual variety reaches their full size with only a small difference between their tuber sizes. The flesh is a dry texture, which makes them suitable for roasting, boiling or chipping. One of the advantages of this variety is that they hold their shape perfectly when boiled for at least a couple of minute longer than necessary.

    They have a slight susceptibility to eelworm.

    Plant in full sunlight, in well drained and fertile soil from March until April, and harvest your ‘Wilja’ potatoes from August.

    The ‘Nicola’ potato variety makes a perfect salad and boiling potato with pale yellow flesh and yellow skin. Small, firm and waxy with incredible flavour, this second early potato variety has good resistance to eelworm and scab. Perfect for the novice gardener they taste excellent when boiled or served hot in salads. First introduced in the 1970s ‘Nicola’ is the modern equivalent of the salad potato. They are attractive and easy to grow. Quickly becoming a firm favourite, they are heavy yielding and healthy, with a good storing life.
