A cheerful flower, with velvety blooms enhanced by the sword-shaped foliage. The tall stems adding stature, along with the vibrant colour makes them undoubtedly the plant of choice for any garden or patio hoping to achieve a more striking display. And the butterflies and bees love them! They also make beautiful cut-flowers making them ideal to enjoy indoors too!

These breathtaking beauties will grow to a height of up to 120cm and bloom in early summer. To get the most out of these wonderful plants make sure you plant them in a prime location in a bed, border or container. They prefer full sun, and fertile, well-drained soil.

Make sure you provide consistent moisture during their growing season.

Planting tips:

  • You should plant your bulbs in spring to avoid any frost
  • Loosen the soil before planting- with a fork- about 12 to 15 inches deep, and mix in a 2-4inch layer of compost.
  • Place the bulb in the hole- roughly 4 inches deep- pointed end facing up. Cover with soil and press in firmly.
  • Each bulb should be spaced roughly 3 to 6 inches apart.
  • Gladioli prefer well- drained soil, in full sun.
  • When planting tall varieties make sure you stake them when planting- being careful not to damage the bulbs when doing so.
