Maincrop. The gardeners' and exhibitors' favourite Greenshaft, has been crossed with a semi-leafless variety to produce the even sweeter tasting Greensage. Curved pods over 8cm (3½in) long, averaging 8-11 peas per pod.
Sow March to June. Sow March to June every 10 days for succession. Sow 5cm (2in) deep in flat-bottomed drills spacing about 2.5-5cm (1-2in) apart, and in rows 75cm (30in) apart.
When plants are 10cm (4in), tall provide twiggy sticks for support. Height 75cm (30in).
The peas will be ready to harvest around 12-13 weeks from sowing date, and regular picking will encourage further cropping. Plants are self supporting when sown in blocks. Prefers well drained, moist, rich conditions.
