Controls common black ants in and around the home

Highly efficient ant and crawling insect killer.

Long lasting - up to 6 months control, for indoor and outdoor use. Children and pets need not be excluded from treated areas.

Apply: At the first signs of ant activity.

How to Use: Remove cap. Hold container pointing slightly downwards and apply as a fine dust to surfaces. Replace cap after use. Ants: Where possible open up the nests, dust well and tread down. Dust along the ant runs, cracks, crevices and other places. Entrances to nests should be liberally dusted, particularly in cases where the ants cannot be disturbed. Where ants are invading premises apply to points of access such as doorsteps, window frames, air-bricks, etc. Crawling insects - cockroaches, beetles, earwigs, silverfish, woodlice and other crawling insects: Apply around cracks and other entry points. Leave powder undisturbed and re-treat as necessary. Wasps: Apply dust liberally into the nest or apply in piles at the nest entrance. Treatment is best carried out in the evening or on dull days when wasp activity is at a minimum. Take care not to disturb colony and do not return to nest until all wasp activity has ceased.

Note: Do not use on soft furnishings.

Contain permethrin

Because they are used in the home, Nippon products must be of low toxicity to humans and animals. For this reason pyrethroids are used in the majority of Nippon household insecticides.

Nippon Ant Killer Liquid

Why is the Nippon Liquid not killing the ants?

Part of the reason for the lack of success in controlling ants invading your home may be the lack of frequency when changing the liquid. Nippon Ant Killer liquid should be replaced at least once daily, as if left for more than 24 hours the liquid becomes hard and looses its attraction.

It is a good sign if the ants are swarming around the Nippon Liquid as the more ants taking the liquid, the sooner a fatal dose will build up within the colony.

Why are the Ants reluctant to feed during the winter?

We are aware that in some cases ants can awake prematurely from winter hibernation, during mild conditions in winter or when nesting indoors or near a source of heat. During this time they often remain lethargic and show little interest in feeding which can reduce the effectiveness of bait materials, like Nippon Ant Killer Liquid. The ants can also be somewhat erratic in their behaviour. Continue to use the Nippon Ant Killer Liquid, as though it may take some time to work at this time of year, it is still one of the most effective ant killers on the market.

If the ants are taking the bait, there is no reason to assume that the product will not give control of your ant problem, given sufficient time. The time taken will tend to vary depending on, for example, the colony size, weather conditions (which will tend to affect the intensity with which the ants feed) and whether or not the ants are feeding exclusively on the Nippon.

Why are the ants not taking the Nippon Liquid bait?

This problem, although not a common one, is not unknown and although we have been unable to replicate this, we are aware that ants from a particular nest may not show any interest in a tube from a particular batch. This may be due to the natural variation in the natural honey and sugar components of the bait. In such cases, we have found that a replacement tube solves the problem.

Nippon Ant Killer Powder

Will the Nippon Ant Killer Powder contaminate food crops?

This product does not carry approval for use directly on food crops, therefore we cannot recommend its use in such a situation. We would not, however, expect any problems as a result of eating crops treated with the product as it is not classified as dangerous and exhibits very low toxicity. The active ingredient, Permethrin, is not absorbed by the plants and is rapidly broken down in moist soil.

Can the Nippon Powder be used on wasp nests?

Yes. It can be applied to the wasp nest entrance. Wasp Nest Destroyer Foam can also be used when the nest is inaccessible.

Will Nippon Powder kill Pharoah Ants?

Although our Nippon Ant Killer Powder, Nippon Ant and Crawling Insect Killer and Ready To Use Spray will kill this ant, it is rarely possible to eradicate an entire colony using contact insecticides.

Is the Nippon Powder safe to use near pets and children?

Nippon Powder is considered to be of low toxicity. It is designed for use in and around the home where incidental contact with the material could be anticipated and no symptoms would be expected as a result of exposure to the product. Nippon Powder, as with all pesticide products approved for sale and use on the UK retail market, must be proved to be safe when used according to the label directions, to the user and other parties, which include children, pets and wild fauna. Any specific hazards and precautions necessary would be clearly stated on the label.

Why is the Nippon Powder not killing the ants?

Nippon Powder is an effective contact insecticide that will kill ants within minutes. As it is a contact killer, however, it is necessary to apply it to areas frequented by the ants to achieve control.

Where it is not possible to treat the nest directly, you may find that Nippon Liquid would be of more use against the ants, as the product is taken back to the nest by the worker ants to feed the rest of the colony.

Why is the container under-filled?

This type of puffer pack requires a certain amount of headspace to allow sufficient airflow to produce the required puffing action. The fine powder used in this product also tends to settle after packing and this may give rise to the suspicion of under filling.

As part of our stringent quality assurance procedures, we maintain a record of filling quantities.

From where is the name 'Nippon' derived?

The original product was based on a Japanese formulation introduced into the country in the 1930ãs under the Nippon Ant Destroyer name.
