A very popular variety producing large, crisp hearts. Slow to run to seed.
CULTURE: Sow little and often to ensure a continuous supply. Grow in a rich soil and water well in dry periods. Sow outdoors at fortnightly intervals from March to July, and in September sow varieties which stand through winter to head the following spring. (10-14 weeks maturity.)
HINTS: Slow to mature, and usually more heat and bolt resistant than butterhead types. Crisp, crinkled leaves of delicious flavour. HEALTH BENEFITS: Source of beta-carotene and vitamin A.
