Where to use
For exterior use on bare or pre-treated garden timber. Suitable for rough sawn or planed wood. Not recommended for decking, use Cuprinol Decking Stain. Not suitable for indoor use.
Preparing the Job
Surfaces should be clean, dry and free from algae and mould. To protect bare wood against rot, pre-treat with Cuprinol Low Odour Wood Preserver Clear or Cuprinol Garden Furniture Preserver. Note: Creosote or similar finishes must be allowed to weather well before using Garden Shades. Bare Planed New Wood: Sand smooth and wipe clean with White Spirit to remove any natural oils/resins. Weathered Planed Wood: Completely remove all grey, weathered wood by sanding back to a clean, bright surface. Follow preparation instructions for bare planed new wood. Previously Coated Planed Wood: Remove all surface coatings and any grey, weathered timber by sanding. Rough Sawn Wood: Clean weathered and dirty wood using a stiff brush, detergent and water.
How to Apply
Stir thoroughly before and during use. Please note that the colour in the tin may be different to the final shade when dry. Try a test area first to ensure colour and adhesion are acceptable when dry. Brush on evenly along the grain. Do not apply in temperatures below 5°C, in damp conditions or if rain is likely before product is dry.
Drying Time
Touch dry 1 hour, re-coat normally after 8 hours under good drying conditions. Ensure previous coat is dry before re-coating. On areas subject to wear such as garden furniture, allow a few days before heavy use or contact with soft furnishings.
Cleaning Up
Re-seal container after use. Remove as much product as possible from brushes before washing with water and detergent.
Coverage
Smooth planed wood: 10 sq.m. per litre (2 coats). Rough sawn wood: 5 sq.m. per litre (2 coats). Refer to can for full details.
