Suttons 'fun to grow' Alien Invasion Kit - weird and wonderful plants that look as if they have come from outer space!!

Your 'Alien Invasion' kit contains:

  • alien sticker sheet - stick to plant labels
  • 4 packs of alien seeds
  • 4 plant labels
  • 3 magic compost blocks
  • propagator tray and lid

How to use your 'Alien Invasion' kit:

  1. Pierce holes in the growing tray where marked using a skewer, pencil or similar implement and place the magic compost blocks in the tray.
  2. Moisten the compost blocks with water and watch them expand.  Add more water if necessary.  Break up the compost, level off and firm down.
  3. Place 3 straws across the tray to divide into 4 sections and plant your seeds, one variety to each section , evenly across the surface of the compost and press in lightly.  Cover with paper and keep in a warm place.
  4. When seedlings emerge usually after 7-15 days, remove paper and keep compost moist.  Move to a warm, well lit windowsill.
  5. As the seedling grow you will need to transfer them into larger trays or pots.

Meet the Aliens you will be growing:

Weretors of Elgebar (Dianthus R. Loveliness) - Plant my seeds to April to June and I'll freak you out with my fringed flowers in many colours the following summer.   Move plants from the kit into pots or trays when 5-8cm high, one per 7.5cm pot or 6cm apart in trays. Grow on and plant outside 23-30cm apart in June/July.

Spheresaurs of Acamar (Scorpiurus muricatus) - People call me the 'caterpillar' plant but my seed pods are more scary than that! They are prickly, hairy and curly whirly - just right to frighten people.  Plant my seeds April - June.  Grow me like Weretors.  Plant outside May-June 30cm apart.  See my seed pods form from July-September.

Neural Miner (Cucurbita m. Triamble) - People tell me I am actually a 'gourd' but I prefer my extra terrestrial name.  My fruits not edible so don't even try to gobble me up.  Plant my seeds April-May and grow me like Weretors and plant outside in late May-June 90cm apart.  Pinch out the tips off my shoots when 4 leaves have formed.

Nexus Howler of Mira Nebuli (Amaranthus c.Red) - Sometimes I am called Love-lies-Bleeding because of my red tentacles.  I think they sound as much of mouthful as my real name!  Plant my seeds April - June and grow me like Weretors.  Plant me outside May-July at 23-30cm apart.  Watch me frow to a height of 75cm - towering!!

Learning - Your child will learn elements of the National Curriculum including seed germination and plant growth.
