Sow April to June. Soak the seed in warm water for 24 hours before sowing. Sow thinly, 1cm (½ inch) deep in drills 30cm (12 inches) apart in any deep and moist, well-drained soil, which has had well-rotted manure incorporated during the previous seaso
Thin out seedlings when large enough to handle, to 15cm (6 inches) apart.
Leaves are ready for harvest within 6-8 weeks from sowing, harvest as and when required. If foliage yellows, cut back to base and feed with liquid fertiliser to promote new growth.
