Sow from spring to late summer at 20-25C (68-77F) in a good seed compost. Sow seed on surface of compost and keep soil damp but not wet. Do not exclude light, sealing in a polythene bag after sowing is helpful. Germination usually takes 14-21 days.
When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into 7.5cm (3in) pots and grow in an open coldframe for the summer and shade from strong sun. Move to a cool greenhouse in autumn.
