Sow February to July at 20-25C (68-86F) on the surface of a good free draining, damp seed compost. Apply a fine sprinkling of vermiculite, but do not cover the seed completely. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag until after
Transplant seedlings, when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots, and grow on in cooler conditions for at least 14 days before planting out. Plant outside after all risk of frost, 30-45cm (12-18in) apart.
Cut back stems to ground level each winter.
