How to grow your Sunflower:
- Remove top from cup. Take out peat block, pot and seeds.
- Place magic peat block in bottom of Suttons peat pot.
- Very slowly pour 1/2 cup WARM water onto peat block and watch it grow! - allow 5 mins for peat block to expand fully.
- Fluff peat with pencil until crumbly.
- Push 3 seeds pointed end down into the peat until they disappear. The seeds will absorb water and begin the germination process.
- Place pot in cup and replace top (upside down). Put somewhere warm until shoots appear in 3-7 days. The seeds need warmth and moiture to germinate. The seed coat splits and the tiny shots (which will form the stem and leaves) appear together with the 'radicle' (the name for the beginnings of the root system).
- Remove top and place under cup as a drip tray.
- Put somewhere sunny and keep moist until the first leaf appears.
- Remove the peat pot from paper cup.
- Gently tease two of the seedlings out and plant them separately, into pots or directly outdoors. Water well and watch how quick they grow!
- When your plant is 15cm tall it's time to plant it outdoors. You canplant it complete in its peat pot so that the top of the peat pot is just below the soil. If planting with out sunflowers keep them 30cm apart.
- Keep plants moist and use liquid fertiliser to get the tallest Sunflower. You may need a stout cane to support the plant as it gets taller.
